Come join us for a fun-filled day of activities!

Meet us at the Hay Barn! (see directions, below)

Day Long Events

  1. - Steve Mantle and Co. will be there with two gentled geldings for adoption.

              (BLM representatives will be there for adopting that day)

  1. - Dave Herring from Platteville, CO will have our two adopted Mustangs which he has gentled and trained to pull as a team. They will be pulling a wagon for tours out to the wild horses. Another example of the versatility of using a mustang. Dave will take other Mustangs to train.

  2. - Nicki Creasey, Colorado BIP (Burro Incentive Program—helping BLM gathered burros find their forever home) trainer will be present with two gentled burros and information on burro adoption through the BLM.

Dickies BBQ will have lunch for the first 250 people from 11:00-2:00   $12.95 per person

Gift Items will be available for purchase-T-shirts, Coffee Mugs, Photo Notecards and framed photos

Tractor hayrides will be available to view the wild horses.

Thank you for taking an interest in the wild horse sanctuary. Directions to Deerwood Ranch: If you are on I-80 take exit 311. Coming from the East turn left and go back under the interstate. (If you are coming from the West, turn right) and follow Snowy Range Road for about one mile. Take a right hand turn before the Shell Station (Gateway To The Snowies).  Follow Hwy 130 (towards the airport & Centennial), follow Hwy 130 for about 21 miles and then turn left on Hwy 11. Follow Hwy 11 almost 6 miles. If you go past the 6 mile marker you have

gone too far! Turn right at the mailboxes

and the DEERWOOD Ranch overhead

sign.  Follow the dirt road back in about

2 miles (stay to the right when the road

comes to the “Y”). You will cross the

bridge and arrive at the Hay Barn

(shown at right).              Welcome!
